Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said guard/forward Dez Wells will be active on Saturday against Oakland, according to Comcast SportsNet Baltimore.

Wells has not played since fracturing his right wrist during a Nov. 25 victory over Iowa State.

Over five games this season, the 6-foot-5 senior led Maryland with 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 29.2 minutes per game. Wells is in his third season with the Terrapins after transferring from Xavier.

Even though Wells is set to play against the Golden Grizzlies, Turgeon reportedly said he is unlikely to start.

"It feels good to be out here with my teammates [in practice] again," Wells said on Friday, according to CSN. "And I’m pretty excited to get out here and try to contribute to my team tomorrow, so I’m just excited for that."

In Wells' absence, freshman point guard Melo Trimble (15.8 ppg, 3.1 apg) and senior forward Jake Layman (15.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg) have helped the Terrapins win six of their seven games, including a victory at Oklahoma State last Sunday.
