A top in-state basketball player is off the board.

Jamal Johnson, a guard from Spain Park, committed to Memphis on Monday night. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard was a priority target for UAB, having officially visited the school last month.

Johnson averaged 18.1 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game for Spain Park as a junior. His father Buck played at Alabama and in the NBA.

In the national 247Sports composite rankings, Johnson is a three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 152 national prospect and No. 7 prospect in Alabama.

UAB has one commitment under first-year head coach Robert Ehsan in Jacksonville, Fla., point guard Zack Bryant.

UAB had an in-home visit Monday with Hot Springs, Ark., combo guard Exavian Christon. He has offers from UAB and Arkansas State.
