Former Jayhawk Joel Embiid already trying to give back

Late Tuesday night, former Kansas University big man Joel Embiid took to Twitter to do a little unofficial recruiting for the program that made him a star during the 2013-14 season.

Embiid, who declared for this year's NBA Draft last month after just one season as a Jayhawk, shared a video on his account that he said was the final thing that made him pick KU during his own recruiting process.

Here's a quick look at that video, along with Embiid's Tweets.

Embiid and fellow one-and-done freshman Andrew Wiggins are busy preparing for the June 26 NBA Draft in New York City. Both already have agents and are going through individual workouts while preparing for the NBA Draft Combine and team workouts.

A few days earlier, Embiid used another social media outlet, Instagram, to show his love for the KU program.

I love JoJo. But I continue to get pissed off whenever I read "I wish I could go back but it's too late."

I will have to agree. Just say you enjoyed your time here and will always love KU then leave it at that. Saying you wish you can come back is a bit of a slap in the face.

Don't get pissed off at a young kid who made an extremely hard decision. You sound like a sore loser.

Second thoughts do occur, perhaps he has started to see that the NBA is a business not a game and realizes how big a step he has taken.

That video is amazing, the song is even better. Still gives me the chills. Matt Easton nailed it with those lyrics.

Just stop. It's not a slap in the face. He wishes he could come back and still be a college kid and play for all of us Jayhawk fans, however, coming back would have been a terrible decision that risked the incredible opportunity to make tons of money and play at the highest possible level. Not a single one of you would have turned your backs on 10 million dollars in order to stay in school one more year. Get over it. Good luck JoJo, you'll always be a Jayhawk, tear it up in the L!!!

one thing about some K.U fans, that just pisses me off, is they are so damn critical, based on their own personal feelings. Joel can say he wishes he could come back, all he wants. if you get pissed off, then just be pissed off. you probably get really pissed off, any time something doesn't go your way. Everyone has 2nd thoughts, about things, from time to time, and wishes they would have made a different decision. At least he is mature enough to actually, be admitting, he probably made a mistake (which was probably ind of pushed on him_and that is another story)! I'm just glad he was a Jayhawk. By the way, say something positive about him. He is going to be a top draft pick, and he is taking time out to help us recruit, and he will always do so. Jayhawkforlife! Rock Chalk! PS: You whiners sound like Misery fans! Now get mad, and get your happy ___ glad!!! LMAO

Hey Joe, thanks for putting me in my place. You really changed my outlook on things and I totally see everything your way now. I'm really sorry I offended you or anyone else. I'm glad I was able to make you laugh your ass off. Laughter is good medicine.

Phil, You didn't offend me. But sometimes, we have to look at the big picture. I don't always like everything that goes on with the Hawks, but I try to really look at 'ALL' sides of things, before I state my opinion. By the way, I thought Embiid should have stayed one more year, and I thought he would do so. That shows how much I know. ha ha ha ha ha But we are gonna be a great team, this coming season, especially if we get the young kid from Ukraine. We are 'Final Four' material, without him, and with him, it would dramatically, increase our chances of winning it all, once he has a year under Hudy, and our coaching staff! Rock Chalk!

JoJo, we will forever miss you here at Kansas. I'm sad you didn't get to experience the hoopla that is postseason hoops at Kansas, but I believe you made the right choice in heading to the league. I wish you all the success in the world and hope that you continue to rep us for a long time, as I'm sure we will do the same.

Mark Lindrud 5 years, 11 months ago

I wish JoJo all the best and I want him to do great. I am sure he will as long as he stays healthy. Now let's all hug out all this anger between us. I will bring the s'mores! What is everyone bringing?
