Troy Brown Jr. repeatedly took the ball to the rim, even though the two players guarding the basket were 7-footers. The rising Centennial High sophomore averaged 15.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4 assists per game last winter as a freshman, and against nationally ranked and state powerhouse Bishop Gorman the 6-foot-5 guard didn’t back down, instead appearing to be the best player on the court and earning comparisons to NBA star Kevin Durant. Both are lanky, pure scorers and excellent passers who thrive when taking the ball to the basket. UNLV offered Brown a scholarship before he played a single high school game, with USC and Arizona quickly following suit. ranks him as the No. 2 overall player for the class of 2017, and considers him one of the top 100 players regardless of graduating class—one of just two freshmen who made the cut.
