The now-No. 3 ranked Ole Miss football team hosted some 400 recruits for its come-from-behind win over Alabama Saturday afternoon.

Ole Miss basketball hosted six. And a star-studded six it was.

The Rebels welcomed to campus commits
Donte Fitzpatrick, Rasheed Brooks and Terence Davis, as well as a pair of four-star 2016 prospects in Micah Thomas and Kyle Guy and five-star combo guard Malik Newman, ranked the No. 10 prospect in the country by

The 6-foot-2 Guy, a guard by way of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind., holds offers from, among others, Indiana, Purdue, Xavier, Virginia, Iowa State and N.C. State.

“It went well,” Guy said. “Game day was crazy. There was barely walking room. I was there with Micah Thomas and Malik Newman, so it was a busy day.”

Guy arrived on Friday and went on a campus tour with Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy and staff, and he watched as the Rebels opened practice in preparation for the upcoming season later in the afternoon.

An historic Saturday followed, one that began with ESPN's College GameDay and thousands upon thousands of fans in the Grove in the morning and ended with fans covering every inch of the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium field and ripping down the goal posts after the 23-17 win.

Guy said, following the visit, Ole Miss ranks “right at the top with all the other schools.”

“It definitely met expectations. It was awesome,” he said. “Everyone talks about how crazy it is on Saturdays. It was just a really nice campus and the coaches were great and the players were great.

“They kept preaching the Marshall Henderson stuff, that I’d be able to do more with the ball and ball screens and whatnot. They kept preaching that and how there’s no bad shots and all that kind of stuff and how I’d fit.”

Guy, rated the No. 89 prospect overall for the class of 2016, saw his recruitment blow up in July. And ever since, he’s made the recruiting rounds, having now visited Ole Miss and Purdue. He’s scheduled to trip to Virginia in two weeks.

“It was a great time down (at Ole Miss),” he said. “I was with Micah a lot, and I’ve played with him before. We both had a good time. I talked to Malik briefly. He said that he loved Ole Miss and that it was a great time also. He was more with the coaches.”

Guy has plenty of time before he has to make a decision. He said his original plan was to commit August of next year, but if the right school comes along, he’ll go ahead and end his recruitment.

For now, he’s taking his time and enjoying the process as it comes.

“I don’t plan on making a decision anytime soon,” he said, “and I’m open to everybody.”
