For the past few weeks, St. John’s has held frontrunner status in the recruitment of five-star point guard Isaiah Briscoe.
Now, the momentum might be turning back to Kentucky.
NJ Advance writer Jeremy Schneider, who has been among the best reporters on Briscoe’s recruitment, tweeted Wednesday that it’s “sounding like UK has taken the lead again” with the New Jersey prospect.
Kentucky picked up its recruitment of Briscoe over the summer, extended a scholarship offer in September and immediately was seen as the favorite in the recruitment.
A couple of weeks ago, Briscoe hosted the entire St. John’s coaching staff at his high school, visited the program’s midnight madness event and watched the Red Storm practice all in a matter of four days. The chatter at that time was that Briscoe was again favoring St. John’s, the local option.
Briscoe narrowed his list to UK, St. John’s and UConn last weekend and is expected to announce his college decision sometime soon. He’s widely regarded as the No. 1 point guard in the class of 2015.
