Piscataway, New Jersey - In a season when watching Rutgers (10-7, 2-2) basketball has been an occasionally exasperating experience, the Sunday night game against the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers (15-2, 3-1) was the game fans have been looking for. Outcome aside, the Scarlet Knights played basketball the way we all thought they could in preseason - and then some, beating the No. 4 team in the nation 67-62.

In a game everyone assumed would be a loss, Rutgers showed up and said 'not so fast.'

Nobody thought they could do it. Nobody gave them a shot.

All Rutgers did was go out and get the biggest win in school history.

Stat sheet

  • Rutgers shot 80 percent from the free throw line, hitting 12-of-15 over the course of the game. Wisconsin only hit 53 percent, and were really bad down the stretch.
  • Wisconsin amazingly had 16 second-chance points, while Rutgers only had 4 points off offensive rebounds. The Badgers also led in rebounds with 31 to Rutgers' 28.
  • The Scarlet Knights finally got the job done in the paint, scoring 34 inside, compared to Wisconsin's 26.
