Piscataway, New Jersey - In a season when watching Rutgers (10-7, 2-2) basketball has been an occasionally exasperating experience, the Sunday night game against the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers (15-2, 3-1) was the game fans have been looking for. Outcome aside, the Scarlet Knights played basketball the way we all thought they could in preseason - and then some, beating the No. 4 team in the nation 67-62.
In a game everyone assumed would be a loss, Rutgers showed up and said 'not so fast.'
Nobody thought they could do it. Nobody gave them a shot.
All Rutgers did was go out and get the biggest win in school history.
- Rutgers shot 80 percent from the free throw line, hitting 12-of-15 over the course of the game. Wisconsin only hit 53 percent, and were really bad down the stretch.
- Wisconsin amazingly had 16 second-chance points, while Rutgers only had 4 points off offensive rebounds. The Badgers also led in rebounds with 31 to Rutgers' 28.
- The Scarlet Knights finally got the job done in the paint, scoring 34 inside, compared to Wisconsin's 26.
Rutgers travels to Maryland to take on the other new kid on the block. The game takes place on Wednesday at 7pm EST.
