Report: Zags’ Harris didn’t tear Achilles

Gonzaga sophomore forward Elias Harris did not tear his Achilles tendon in Tuesday’s loss to San Diego State, the Spokesman-Review reported late Wednesday.

An MRI revealed a heel injury that might keep the NBA prospect out 4-5 days.

“It isn’t perfect, but it’s not torn,” a source close to the basketball program told the Spokesman-Review. “It’s swollen and it’s going to need some time to heal.”

The Zags meet No. 3 Kansas State on Monday and Harris availability for that game won’t be determined until at least the weekend.

After Tuesday’s game, there were fears Harris could miss extended time or even the entire season with an Achilles tendon injury.

“I think it’s my Achilles (tendon),” Harris said after the game. “I heard something pop. I couldn’t get up in the air and I couldn’t run any more.”
