High school basketball highlights for Tuesday, Dec. 17

Boys Basketball

Franklin 81, Talawnda 44: Both teams were tied at 14 after the first quarter, but Franklin pulled away with a 28-2 run before the half. Luke Kennard, the area’s leading scorer, poured in 37 points, his fifth 30-plus performance of the year. Kennard also added 10 rebounds. Evan Crowe had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards for the 5-0 Wildcats. Talawanda was led by Warwick Reider, who had 14 points.

St. Xavier 44, Fenwick 41: The Falcons let a 16-point halftime lead get away to fall to 4-2. Kevin Christie led Fenwick with 17 points.

Carlisle 76, Miami Valley 61: Andrew Goodpaster led Carlisle with 20 points. Gideon Cunningham and Jai Milton added 15 points each. Miami Valley’s Corde Donald led all scorers with 25 points.

Beavercreek 62, Vandalia Butler 43: ‘Creek moves to 6-0 on the season. Airius Moore scored 17 and Zach Rower had 15 for the Beavers.

Fairborn 66, Bellbrook 58: Fairborn evens its record at 2-2, while handing Bellbrook (3-1) its first defeat. The Skyhawks overcame a one-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter. Malik Jacobs had a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds for Fairborn. Josh Schumacher had 18 and Tyler Everidge finished with 17 for Bellbrook.

Fairmont 59, Hamilton 56: Kei’Vante Tanner had a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Fairmont (3-2). Hamilton (2-4) got double-digit scoring from Christian Jones (17), A’Shon Riggins (14), and Jamil Daniels (13).

Northmont 55, Belmont 43: Northmont moves to 4-1 with the win. Isaiah Williams had 14 points, and Jordan Lowery added 12 for the T-Bolts. Andre Snyder led the Bison (1-5) with 14 points.

Piqua 64, Stebbins 55: Erik Vondenheuvel led Piqua with 16 points. Ja’Quan Dangerfield had 15 for Stebbins.

Valley View 54, West Carrollton 48: The Spartans battled back in the second half behind Ethan Brown’s 24 points.

Xenia 72, Graham 42: Xenia jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter. The Buccaneers (3-3) drained 11 three-pointers in the game. Clayton Kadel had three of them to go with his 15 points. Graham’s Devon Allen finished with 18 points and six rebounds.

Waynesville 52, Monroe 41: The Spartans recorded their first win as Zeb Farley tallied 16 points.

Jefferson 85, Northridge 73: Nate Sheppard lit up the scoreboard with 39 points to lead Jefferson (2-0). Kei’Shawn Arnold poured in 22 for Northridge.

Dayton Christian 53, Middletown Christian 39: Dayton Christian was led by Evan Stone with 21 points. KK Upshaw led Middletown Christian with 15 points.

Houston 77, Fairlawn 71: Houston (5-1) improves to 4-0 in the Shelby County League. Three players racked up 16 points for Wildcats: Jake Braun, Jesse Phlipot, and Domyneik Phipps. Fairlawn’s leading scorers were Nathan Lessing with 24 and Kindal Spradlin with 20.

Tri-Village 57, Arcanum 27: Tyler Cook and Damion Cook combined for 36 points for the Patriots.

Twin Valley South 69, Ansonia 42: Junior Wes Cole hit for a career-best 28 points in the win.

Bethel 57, Tri-County North 32: Bethel remains undefeated (4-0, 3-0 CCC) as Patrick Bain finished with 22 points for the Bees. Austin Hutchins had 11 for TC North (3-3).

Greeneview 71, Catholic Central 56: Ethan Bradds led the Rams (2-3) with 18 points. will Johnson scored 28 points for Catholic Central.

West Liberty-Salem 50, Cedarville 47: The Tigers overcame an 11-point halftime deficit, as Trent Thomas hit two big three-pointers in the fourth. Ben Burden finished with 20 points for WL-Salem.

Dunbar 80, North College Hill 46: Amos Harris had a double-double for the Wolverines (5-1), scoring 15 points and dishing out 10 assists. Doriane Dawson led Dunbar scoring with 16.

Tecumseh 64, Greenon 27: Josiah McFarland scored 14 points and Malik Quisenberry added 10 for Tecumseh (5-1).

Girls Basketball

Jackson Center 43, New Bremen 37: Jackson Center won its fourth straight game after opening the season 0-3. The Tigers were led by Peyton Esser, who finished with 14 points. The Cardinals (4-3) got a game-high 21 from Rosie Westerbeck.

Talawanda 44, Eaton 43: Talawanda’s Ana Richter hit a lay-up with 10 seconds left to knock off previously undefeated Eaton. Richter finished with 18 points, and Megan Richardson chipped in 14 for the Braves (6-1). Eaton (7-1) was led by Danielle Karns, who had 12.

New Knoxville 76, Spencerville 25: New Knoxville’s Haley Horstman scored 14 points, including her 1000th career point. Meg Reinke led the Rangers with 21 points, and had five three-pointers. Paige Lehman added 16.

Madison 53, Preble Shawnee 26: Katy Canter scored 10 points to pace the Mohawks, which move to 3-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division.
